The statement was also published by KCNA.
"However, the United States responded to our expectation by inciting global sanctions and pressure against the DPRK", it said in a statement carried by KCNA news agency.
Bolton is a longtime Korea hawk and had been a critic of talking with North Korea before Trump opened diplomatic relations.

The North Korean statement followed comments this week by top American diplomats stressing the need for Pyongyang to take additional steps toward denuclearisation.
