Tyler Honeycutt, a former UCLA and National Basketball Association player most recently playing for Khimki in Russian Federation, was found dead in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles following a shootout with police officers, per ABC 7.
A SWAT team entered the home and located an unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the LAPD tweeted at 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

But a number of bureaucratic hurdles have complicated the efforts to place those children back with their parents. The government says it has 16 children under age 5 in its custody who it has not beeen able to link to an adult.
An officer at the Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys Division told Yahoo Sports on Saturday morning that because the case is still under investigation, he could not provide further details or confirm the involvement of Honeycutt. The area around the residence, including at least 30 people, was evacuated.
Police haven't officially released his name, but LAPD identified the suspect as Honeycutt on police scanners. Police later confirmed that the suspect appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and was not struck by any gunfire from the officers. Honeycutt was only 27. At the time of his death, he was playing for the club BC Khimki in Russian Federation. No one was injured in the initial shooting.

Honeycutt, who was 27, spent two seasons at UCLA where he was named first-team all-Pac 10 as a sophomore before declaring for the 2011 National Basketball Association draft. He went to the Kings in 2011 National Basketball Association draft, but only played 24 National Basketball Association games before continuing his career overseas. Los Angeles Fire Department officials declared him dead at the scene.
He played brief spells for the Reno Bighorns before moving to the Houston Rockets. For the past few years, he had bounced back and forth between Khimki and Anadolu Efes in Turkey.
