Belgium ran out 2-1 winners against Brazil to end the Selecao's World Cup at the quarterfinal stage on Friday night, sending Neymar's side home from Russian Federation and putting Roberto Martinez's team into the semifinals.
Off Nacer Chadli's corner, the ball deflected off of Fernandinho, playing for the suspended Casemiro, for an own goal giving Belgium the 1-0 lead.
A Fernandinho own goal in the 13th minute followed by a superb Kevin De Bruyne strike just after the half-hour put Belgium in the driving seat.
Substitute Renato Augusto pulled one back for the Brazilians with 14 minutes of extra time remaining, heading past the otherwise brilliant Thibaut Courtois after getting on the end of Coutinho's cross. Even after Philippe Coutinho's cross was headed in by Augusto, who managed to evade center backs Vincent Kompany and Jan Vertonghen three minutes after replacing Paulinho. Belgium has scored 12 goals in the tournament, with Romelu Lukaku sitting in second place in tournament scoring with four of those goals in three matches.
Serena Williams advances to third round at Wimbledon
Wickmayer said she did not care how she was addressed. "I really don't like being away from her", Williams said. The Wimbledon tennis tournament has been around since 1877 , and it first allowed women to compete in 1884.
It will probably be similar to the two teams' meeting at the 2002 World Cup which ended in a 2-0 win for Brazil after a goalless first-half.
De Bruyne easily ranks among the most talented players in the entire tournament―let alone Belgium's squad―but the midfielder hadn't been at his best for the Red Devils in a long time, dating all the way back to the loss against Wales at Euro 2016. Brazil lost to France and the Netherlands in the quarter-finals of the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and was humiliated 7-1 by Germany in the semifinals four years ago at home.
Thibaut Courtois, who made a fine save to tip over a late shot from Neymar, said Brazil were the superior attacking side, but the goalkeeper was happy to have reached the semifinal "the hard way".
Tite's assistant coach Cleber Xavier told Fifa.com: "When it's time to play we play, and when it's time to defend we defend; that's the balance in our game". They have qualified for six consecutive World Cups, but have never progressed beyond the second round during this period. What's more, nothing seemed to go Neymar's way, as Brazil looked uncharacteristically uncertain in front of goal. Another possible spot kick was waved away despite replays that showed Neymar getting his eye raked while chasing a header in stoppage time.
Three YouTube stars died after falling 100 feet off a waterfall
Travel vlogger Ryker Gamble was one of three YouTube travel vloggers who died this week after falling over a waterfall. The statement read: "The family would love to hear anything or everything on how High On Life may have inspired you".
Since beating Germany 2-0 in the 2002 World Cup final, the five-time victor has been eliminated by European sides in the three subsequent competitions.
Marcelo also tested Courtois but it was Belgium who looked the more threatening as they launched wave after wave of counter-attacks.
"We are leaving the World Cup with sadness", said Brazil skipper Miranda.
