Najib has consistently denied wrongdoing in dealings with 1MDB, which is short for 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
The Wall Street Journal, which brought the scandal to worldwide attention, published a report in 2015 that investigators looking into 1MDB had "traced almost $700 million of deposits into what they believe are the personal bank accounts" of Najib.
Al Jazeera's Florence Looi, reporting from the capital, Kuala Lumpur, said: "The sum of about $10m is a small amount compared to the $4bn that Najib and his associate are alleged to have embezzled from 1MBD".
"Najib will be charged on 4 July 2018 at the Kuala Lumpur court", the statement, signed by four senior members of the taskforce, read.
Shafee said, "We have a good defence and you will see when trial starts".
