The often controversial leader of the Philippines, President Rodrigo Duterte, has again drawn condemnation for his treatment of women by kissing an overseas worker from his own country - on stage and in front of dozens of video cameras - during a visit to South Korea. "It was a despicable display of sexism and grave abuse of authority", she said in a comment to local media.
"Come here! Where's my (kiss)", Duterte said, instructing her to explain to her husband - after learning he was not among the audience - that they were engaging in a "joke".
Duterte told the crowd it was just for fun, but critics condemned what they said was his latest macho antic degrading women. "A crowd of more than 2,000 Filipinos are expected to meet and greet the President".

"His repeated acts of machismo are meant as entertainment to hide the reality of his rapidly slipping popularity due to the issues of extrajudicial killings, the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law and big-time corruption scandals now plaguing his rule", it said in a statement on Monday.
