There have been two new small explosive eruptions at the summit of Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island.
The video was filmed from a UH-60 Blackhawk by Senior Airman Orlando Corpuz for the Hawaii National Guard. Since May 3, over a dozen fissures have opened up along the east rift zone of the Kilauea volcano, destroying almost 50 structures.
After quenching and plugging, the wells "are stable at this point", Hawaii Governor David Ige said, according to the Associated Press. Yesterday, lava from Fissure 22 came to within 820 feet (250 meters) of the plant's nearest well pad before stalling, as Reuters reports.
Residents "should be prepared to leave the area with little notice due to gas or lava inundation", Hawaii County's civil defense agency said.
Underscoring the eruption's dangers, a Hawaii man was hit by a flying piece of lava over the weekend said the molten rock almost sheared his leg in half.
US employee in China reported 'vague, but abnormal' sound, pressure
The US has held Cuba responsible, either for allowing the suspected attacks to happen or for carrying them out itself. The State Department urged citizens to seek medical counsel if they experience similar symptoms.
Darryl Clinton told the Honolulu television station KHON that he was hit in the lower leg while he was on the roof of a Panoa home helping to put out fires Saturday morning. He fell victim when a bowling-ball sized lava bomb hit him and snapped bones in his legs.
The eruption of Kilauea volcano in Hawaii sparked new safety warnings about toxic gas on the Big Island's southern coastline after lava began flowing into the ocean and setting off a chemical reaction.
Since then, the summit of Kilauea has erupted periodically with no warning.
"This is all about the eruption, and PGV is just a small component that happens to be in the area", he said. "But you don't want to catch this football".
Officials have been handing out particulate masks to help residents on southeast Big Island breathe.

Then there's the risk of explosions at a geothermal power plant.
Officials said there was no "immediate threat" to the Puna Geothermal Company (PGV) a 38-megawatt plant run by the state of Hawaii. Hot steam and water from these wells drive turbines to produce electricity. Inland, where molten rock is burning through jungle, methane explosions are hurling boulders while toxic gas is reaching some of the highest levels seen in recent times. So far, 10 of the 11 wells at the geothermal plant have been quenched, Hawaii County officials said.
Hawaii County's Civil Defense (HCCD) agency published bulletins on Sunday asking residents living to the east of the summit to beware of "laze"-a combination of toxic hydrochloric acid fumes, steam and fine volcanic glass-like particles, which is formed when hot lava hits the ocean".
Since Kilauea's massive eruption, rivers of fire have swallowed at least 40 structures, hurled lava through cracks in the earth's surface and devastated livelihoods.
