Saturday (April 28) is National Drug Take Back Day and law enforcement all across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley were hard at work collecting unused prescription drugs.
Agustin Garfias of Hewitt participated in this event and stopped by the Walmart to drop off his unwanted drugs.
During previous Drug Take-Back events, Los Angeles-area residents have turned in thousands of pounds of medicines. The majority of those drugs were obtained from family and friends, who had the medications stashed away in their home medicine cabinet.

The Take-Back programs are created to help people get rid of unused drugs that could be misused or abused by others. "And we see a lot of times in residential burglaries, prescription drugs are missing, they're not sure what they had, they're not sure what they used and what they didn't", said Sgt. Gaston.
