STAR South African batsman AB de Villiers struck a half century with a late flurry of sixes as Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by four wickets to notch up their first win in the IPL-11.
After Ashwin (2-30) removed De Kock and Sarfaraz Khan with successive balls in the 12th other, RCB were still 69 shy of their target and were forced to consolidate. Indian stalwart Yuvraj Singh strode to the crease and deposited a ball to the boundary, but a change of tack by Yadav saw the bowler go around-the-wicket and castle Yuvraj for his third scalp in one over, completely swinging the momentum inside the space of six balls. He got hit for two sixes and a four in that over. They've sworn by their five-bowler theory irrespective of the results in the first two games, but the team might just benefit from fielding an extra spinner in either Pawan Negi or Murugan Ashwin. They touched down in Bengaluru with two points and confidence in tow, and caught Friday's game where a high-spec RCB engine began to rev-up after a cold start in Kolkata. RCB required 69 in 51 balls with De Villiers and Mandeep together.
The Next Stop: Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore will meet D'Arcy Short and the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, with Kings XI Punjab heading to Chennai to face Shane Watson and the Super Kings, who sit equal-top on the IPL table. Mandeep Singh (22) then came in the middle and supported de Villiers by playing some beautifully crafted shots around the ground.
Umesh's pace colleague Kulwant Khejroliya and Chris Woakes and off-spinner Washington Sundar then took over in the later part of the Punjab innings with two wickets apiece. After two dots, Yuvraj Singh swatted the fifth ball to the boundary but Yadav had the last laugh by ripping one through the left-hander's gate.Читайте также: JP Morgan Chase reveals first-quarter profit jumped to $8.7bn
Earlier, batting first, Punjab were stung by a special over from Umesh and they were dismissed for 155 in 19.2 overs.
Summary: KXIP were bowled out for 155 runs in 19.2 overs with K L Rahul once again being their leading run scorer at 47 runs. Virat tried taking charge but got out at just 21 runs made off 16 balls. At the end of 15th over, KXIP were 122 for 7 and they could add 33 more runs at the expense of three wickets thanks to Ashwin's breezy 21-ball 33. He faced 34 balls in his innings and put a six against seven squares.
Karun Nair and Marcus Stoinis followed suit soon as Punjab started to lose wicket in a head during the middle overs.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
