The Michigan attorney general's office is investigating the role others at the school may have played in crimes committed by Nassar, who is spending the rest of his life in prison.
She also did not seek assistance from the school's Sexual Assault Program until 10 months later.
Amid growing calls for a change in leadership, university president Lou Anna Simon resigned hours after Nassar was sentenced and Mark Hollis retired as athletic director two days later.
According to the lawsuit, the woman was at Harper's Bar in East Lansing on the evening of April 11, 2015, when most of the MSU men's basketball team arrived at the bar. Earlier in the week, the team had been eliminated from the NCAA Final Four in a contest against Duke. She said she left the bar with some of the players after being led to believe her roommate had gone to a party at an apartment belonging to one of the players.
"At the time, the plaintiff was a sports journalism major, so interacting with members of the basketball team was of interest to her", the federal court filing says. She accepted a ride to the party from two players - the party was at one of their off-campus apartments - and there was no party and her roommate was not there.
The lawsuit says the woman was having a hard time holding her glass, though she said she did not have a lot to drink. Jane Doe was also anxious that if she reported to police she could be cited with underage drinking charges, as she had used a fake ID to enter the East Lansing bar where she encountered the players. "She was afraid and seeing what was going on in the community - and that she would probably have more support now". According to the suit she was thrown on the bed face down, pinned and then raped.
The alleged victim was crying, could not move or speak and did not consent to the sexual activity.Читайте также: United States and France deny involvement in Syrian missile strikes which killed 14
After the incident, she sought counseling through the university.
After the woman told counsellingcentre staff that basketball players were involved, she said the staff made it clear that if she reported it to police "she faced an uphill battle that would create anxiety and unwanted media attention", according to the lawsuit.
The alleged victim has never reported the incident to police, Truszkowski told Outside the Lines.
"If you pursue this, you are going to be swimming with some really big fish", a staff member told her, according to the lawsuit.
According to MSU's policy on relationship violence and sexual misconduct, counselors generally are not permitted to report allegations of rape or relationship violence to the Title IX office or police. She was told the best thing for herself to do was "get herself better". She said her roommate was not at the apartment as she had been told, the lawsuit said. She was admitted to the Sparrow Hospital outpatient psychiatric day program for intensive psychiatric treatment. Eventually she was forced to withdraw for the semester. The suit says that Jane Doe resumed classes at the university in January 2016 and changed her major. She began to think that maybe she had been drugged. The woman said one of the players told her, "You know you're mine for the night?" and she responded that she was just trying to find her friend.
Karen Truszkowski is the attorney representing an alleged victim of rape by three unnamed Michigan State men's basketball players in 2015.
The three players are no longer at Michigan State, according to ESPN's Paula Lavigne.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
