In a way, the touchless gesture controls will be similar to the 3D Touch feature that has been part of Apple's iPhones for the past few years.
Apple is working on touchless gesture control and curved screens for future iPhones, projects that may help the company differentiate its most-important product in an increasingly crowded market, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The upcoming gesture technology will be able to understand if a finger is close to the screen. However, there is no word on how these new gestures would be integrated into iOS software. Unlike the display on the Samsung Galaxy S9, this new iPhone's display will curve from inwards from top to bottom (kind of like a banana). Air Gestures allow users to accept phone calls by waving their hands at a motion sensor housed on top of the phone; while Apple's implementation involves building the sensor into the display itself.

The series of minute-long videos were published on Apple's official YouTube channel, showing users how to get the most out of their device and enticing in potential customers. In the meantime, Apple will evolve the technologies it delivered first in the iPhone X, and it will offer more display size and pricing options too. The curves will presumably be a lot more noticeable than the slightly curved display on the bottom of the iPhone X.
