Toys "R" Us may be folding its stores, but another toy company is planning a comeback. MGA Entertainment CEO Isaac Larian, for one, told Kidscreen last week that TRU's closures could cause toymakers to see company revenue declines of up to 15% this year. Potential new owners of the Canadian business might be interested in taking over the operations of some of the most profitable Toys R Us stores in this country. The stores would reportedly be used to showcase its Echo line of devices. In 2015, Bloomberg notes, Amazon considered buying some closed down Radio Shack locations, but ultimately opted against doing so.

Interestingly, despite cut-throat competition among brick-and-mortar retailers everywhere, Toys "R" Us has never had any competitors with the same distinct brand recognition or product assortment.
Toys "R" Us filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and announced it will be closing all of its locations by April 15.
Alibaba to invest additional 1.44 billion pounds in Lazada, replaces CEO
The region's internet economy is expected to grow to $200 billion by 2025, primarily driven by growth in e-commerce. Taking into account the recent announcement, Alibaba has already invested a total of $4 billion on Lazada.
But, if Amazon did purchase some of the Toys "R" Us stores and warehouses, Amazon would be able to more easily - and quickly - provide speedier, local delivery services to its growing customer base.
Strategic Marks bought the KB Toys brand from Bain Capital in 2016, the same company that bought Toys R Us in 2006. The division in the U.K.is now being wound down. The problem with the ToysRUs stores is that a lot of them are huge.
European Union and United Kingdom reach Brexit transition deal
Longer term, the transition deal may buy people time but business still faces a "cliff edge" of uncertainty come 2021. However, finding a practical solution for any customs checks needed post-Brexit has proved elusive so far.
