Lloyd Blankfein, one of Wall Street's most powerful players, is reportedly preparing to step down from his perch at Goldman Sachs as soon as the end of the year. Much of his work in recent years has been repairing the bank's image after Congressional hearings and media scrutiny focusing on the firm's role in the mortgage bond bubble that helped bring about the financial crisis.
The 63-year-old will be leaving on his own terms, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The two most likely successors, according to the report, were either one of two firm co-presidents, Harvey Schwartz and David Solomon.
