While the sale of the embassy was made under Obama's watch, the decision to relocate the embassy was made under George W. Bush in 2008.
It was quickly pointed out that Barack Obama had nothing to do with the decision to move the USA embassy, a decision that was in fact made during the George W Bush administration instead.
Trump's secretary of state, former Exxon Mobil boss Rex Tillerson, will come to open the USA embassy in his place.

Under domestic pressure, British Prime Minister Theresa May said Trump's re-tweeting was wrong, triggering the latter's retort demanding her not to focus on him, but on anti-terrorism efforts in her own nation.
However, Mr Trump blamed former president Mr Obama's administration for selling "perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for peanuts".
During the Queen's Speech at the State Opening of Parliament last summer, there was no mention of a visit - although a Downing Street spokesman said an invitation had been "extended and accepted".
Khan said Trump "would without doubt have been met by mass peaceful protests" if he hadn't canceled the trip.

While the trip was always meant to be a working one, and separate to an official full state visit this year for which a date has not been set, as president Trump has visited more than a dozen countries ahead of Britain, including Belgium, China, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Philippines, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Vietnam.
