The feature, as outlined in Instagram's Help documents, will suggest posts for you based on those that have been liked by other accounts you follow. Although getting rid of "Recommended for you" isn't an option, temporarily disabling it is.
Instagram has been working hard updating their app this year with many features that users are pretty excited for, the update is still rolling out to users on Android and iOS but keep checking your photo feed, as you might see some recommended post for you soon. The social media platform did not give any clear indications on when exactly will the new update be fully available to all its users.
Some people aren't really too happy with having recommended posts mixed in with your feed.

The latest feature is considered a key change since the platform abandoned sequential feed in favour of Facebook-like process-based one or introduced advertisements. People feel "Recommended for You" posts should be put in "Explore" section, making it easier for users to view them, only when they wish to.
Instagram is starting to roll out recommended posts directly into users' home feeds, according to TechCrunch. This feature is not much dissimilar from the "suggested posts" section of Facebook. It will appear after the user has watched all the posts in the feed.
