The mother of a boy whose video about bullying went viral has defended herself against allegations that she is racist, claiming photos of her family posing with a Confederate flag were meant to be "ironic" and "funny". Here's what she has to say.
"Keaton-Don't waste time wondering why a bully would be so mean-They're sad people who think hurting others will make them feel better because they really don't like themselves", tweeted Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the blockbuster space saga "Star Wars". "She has a private Instagram and hasn't talked to anyone", Lakyn added.
"People that are different don't need to be criticised about it - it's not their fault".
Kimberly and Keaton Jones
Keaton's older sister, Lakyn Jones, wrote on Twitter that same day that the account was not her mother.
She did not answer specific questions about other social media posts critics are using to question her motives, actions and character, but she said she is hopeful Keaton's video will spark positive change.
The revelations have come just days after Jones mother was accused of racism after photos emerged on her with a Confederate flag.
Omarosa: Trump's senior staff has no blacks left
President Donald Trump offered his goodbye in a tweet writing, "Thank you Omarosa for your service! I wish you continued success". The Apprentice celeb had to step down from her Director of Communications position for the Office of Public Liaison.
"I feel like anybody who wants to take the time to ask anybody who I am or even troll through some other pictures, I mean I feel like we're not racist", Jones told ABC News' T.J. "I made the video to raise awareness for bullying, not for fame or fortune, it was not at all for that".
While it's understood Keaton does not have a relationship with his father, a series of photos shared by White on Facebook have caused further controversy for Jones and his family. Since then, celebrities have flocked to support him. "They call me ugly". I can't even say for sure that any of whats being said is true.
She added, "I am genuinely, truly sorry".
British Prime Minister Theresa May loses key Brexit vote
Brexit secretary David Davis has promised to give MPs a final vote, and issued a statement Wednesday in a bid to head off the rebellion.
But, as we know, the internet preserves everything, and sleuths looked into the Keaton Jones' mom's Facebook page to find her smiling with a Confederate flag and railing against Black Lives Matter. "If I could take it back, I would". She called those pictures "ironic and amusing and extreme" during an interview on "Good Morning America". Lastly, Kimberly left parents with this message: "Everyone hate me, that's fine. Talk to your kids because this is an epidemic". Keaton said in the video. However, they would not get into the details of it.
Now TMZ reports that it has found old social media pages belonging to Keaton's estranged father, Shawn White, that feature white supremacist memes with sayings such as "HOLY F*** I LOVE BEING WHITE", "Keep Calm and be White Pride", and "Aryan Pride".
HollywoodLifers, what're your thoughts after hearing Kimberly's comments?
