Warner Bros.is reportedly planning to either announce a replacement for Johns and Berg as early as January, or simply absorb the leadership of DC Films into the studio's larger filmmaking operation. Johns will stay as a chief creative officer with DC Entertainment, but his work on the films could be reduced to an advisory role. Jon Berg, who had been running the DC film production, will leave that job to work with Roy Lee (The Lego Movie, IT) as a production partner.
Emmerich, the former head of New Line Cinema, a year ago replaced Greg Silverman to improve the performance of Warner's movie studio.
Some diehard fans are convinced that if only director Zack Snyder's director's cut could be released, the film would be seen in its originally-intended glory - without the contributions of Joss Whedon, who stepped in to direct reshoots after Snyder left the project due to a family tragedy. "The cool part is that on many of these films the studio releases the Director's Cut with a lot of that material put back in the film for the DVD release, so at least most of the sounds we create will be used one way or another".
National Hockey League says Seattle can apply for franchise
Then you have the Vegas Golden Knights, who are sitting pretty at $34 million tied up for 2018-19. The Eastern Conference has one more team than the Western Conference.
Emmerich is also considering integrating DC Films into the main film production arm of Warner Bros studio.
Justice League might be edging towards $600m at the global box-office, but with Wonder Woman making much more than that on her own, the largely derided Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice nearing $900 million for its entire run, and Marvel's equivalent superhero mashup, The Avengers topping out at $1.5 billion, there is no other way to view the film than a huge failure. However one looks at it, we might not see Zack Snyder directing a DC film anytime soon.
Still, expect changes to continue to reverberate at DC in 2018 following a disappointing end to the year with "Justice League".

Berg is credited as an exec producer on hit Wonder Woman, which has pulled in over $800 million at the box office, as well as the upcoming Aquaman standalone. Now the film's sound editor has weighed in on the matter, telling Inverse there are enough deleted scenes to warrant a director's cut.
But the real news is here is that even outside the Marvel comparison, the DC franchise is failing, and failing hard - both creatively and at the box office. Though the over-$800-million worldwide gross for "Batman v Superman" cushioned the blow for Warner Bros., Variety reported that the studio was concerned by the dark tone of the "Justice League" script and was hoping for something lighter.
