It's also the largest Starbucks in the world, spanning an area almost twice as large as the next biggest, a Roastery in Seattle that opened three years ago.
China is the company's fastest-growing market with more than 3,000 stores across 136 cities.
Starbucks is now building more net new company-operated stores in China than the US, said CEO Kevin Johnson, who replaced CEO Howard Schultz in April when the longtime leader transitioned into the role of executive chairman.

On Wednesday, Starbucks is opening its biggest cafe in the world in Shanghai. Starbucks Roastery stores are the company's new upscale coffeehouses in major metros.
One of its three coffee bars is 88-feet long, the longest Starbucks bar in the world - because waiting in line is so 2016.

But the roastery in Shanghai won't hold the title of largest Starbucks for too long. In July, Starbucks announced the closure of 379 Teavana outlets across the country.
In 2012, Starbucks China has operated the China Starbucks Farmer Support Center in Pu'er in the Yunnan Province, supplying agronomists to work in concert with government representatives and local farmers to improve quality and production through the region. Last quarter, China posted an 8 percent increase, compared with a 3 percent gain in the US, excluding impacts from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
